A Redwood Elopement Story

Madeline and Colin chose to exchange their vows in a quiet redwood grove before heading to the cliffs of Half Moon Bay for portraits. Both were serving in the Air Force and had spent most of their relationship stationed in different states and they were ready to spend the rest of their days together in the same state, under the same roof. With only their closest family members in attendance, they chose to elope in the redwoods for a reason that made everyone smile. His last name is Woods. Beginning their life together surrounded by towering trees felt like the perfect way to start their story as a new family. Afterward, we headed to the cliffs overlooking the Pacific where the moment they created felt as big as the ocean. The result was a wedding day that felt intimate, meaningful, and completely authentic.

Half Moon Bay offers an incredible mix of landscapes within just a short drive.

Some favorite locations include:

Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay cliffs – sweeping ocean views
Poplar Beach – wide open coastline and dramatic sunsets
Redwood groves nearby – peaceful forest atmosphere
Pillar Point Harbor – coastal charm and boats
Montara State Beach – rugged cliffs and powerful waves

Because the area offers both forest and ocean landscapes, couples can capture two completely different looks during one session.
